How KSG Trainers and Consultants helped the NVWA with LearningStone’s new SSO

Customer story, Product news

When KSG Trainers and Consultants approached LearningStone’s to help them combine Moodle and LearningStone for the NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority), we seized the opportunity to develop a new “Single Sign On”. This standardized way of logging in from external systems – in this case based on LTI – is now available to all LearningStone users. KSG – the well-known training agency from Baarn – has been providing training to companies and governments for years. Now they can continue doing that for the NVWA and other clients with a LearningStone environment that integrates well in the existing IT infrastructure.

Sometimes Moodle – or another learning management system – is an important link in an organization's IT architecture. It’s often used to initiate learning activities for employees. Sometimes this is frustrating, as Moodle is outdated in some respects. With the help of the new LTI link, you can allow users to connect to LearningStone through Moodle with a “Single Sign On” and benefit from all the great features that LearningStone provides.

And that is good news, as it means that you can easily let these Moodle users become LearningStone members with just one click! And if you are wondering what the difference is between the two systems, read our blog about Moodle and LearningStone.

KSG has already helped many organizations with training courses supported by beautifully designed LearningStone environments. This will continue unchanged, except from the fact that the users of the NVWA and other governmental organizations will log in in their own IT environment switching to LearningStone.

How does it work?

In Moodle – or any other Learning Management System (LMS) – you create an External LTI tool. This is a kind of secure link to another system using LTI, a standard specification in the educational world. In LearningStone, you only need to set a few things first, and from then on your Moodle users can easily log in to a LearningStone blended training course or any other learning space.
